RE: Left Hand Side Cockpit Panels Ruling confirmed by SCCA
Following and further to correspondence dated 29th July and the 12th August a decision has been reached following the direction given to National Tech from the 2014 Sprintcar Control Council AGM
After extensive investigation and input from many areas including The Sprintcar Control Council (the State Member clubs ) , overseas organisations and many individuals National Technical are advising that effective immediately a unobstructed opening on the left side of the cockpit to be a minimum of 400mm vertical and 400mm horizontal to be used in sprintcar racing in Australia with the chief machine examiner retaining the right to exclude any panel if they feel the driver would be at risk .

How does this effect chassis’s that have a bar running top to bottom roughly level with the shoulders of the driver?
My understanding is that as long as the opening is 400mm vertical and 400mm horizontal its fine, If the opening isn’t that size then you will need to talk to a scrutiniser to check.
