Kyle Beard Takes the win for Fast Series Opener

The weather was perfect to kick off the season with the Fast Series on Saturday night 10th October 2015.
We had a small field with only 13 cars on the track, four being rookies #13 Nevano Cowan, #46 Dylan O’Connor, #50 Paull Farrall and #90 Paul Wettinger.
The club would also like to welcome back #2 Adrian LaMacchia.
The evening started with hot laps and #39 Travis Southwell getting fastest time of 20.135 in lap 4, #96 Brad Fitzgerald second with 20.335 in lap 5 and #56 Brendon Wedge rounding out the top 3 with a 20.356 in the first lap of hot laps.
The running of the first heat saw #57 Kyle Beard taking the win, with #39 Travis Southwell still on fire coming home in second place and third
#56 Brendon Wedge continuing his form from hot laps.
With the night running smoothly the cars took to the track for heat 2.
#17 Brad Taylor took out the win from #57 Kyle Beard and #84 Daran Humfrey.
With a gap between the finishing of heat 2 and the feature race it gave the drivers and crew’s a chance to watch some Sprint Car racing or make adjustments to their cars. The cars took to the track at 9.20 for the feature race with #57 Kyle Beard and #39 Travis Southwell on the front row. The racing was tight for the first couple of laps until #17 Brad Taylor spun out coming out of turn 2 with a little help. At the restart #57 Kyle Beard seized the opportunity and extended his lead, while the battle for the minor places was great to watch between Travis Southwell and Brendon Wedge and then #96 Brad Fitzgerald. Kyle got his first feature win at the Motorplex after 4 years of racing with a comfortable ½ lap win, with the minor placings going to Travis Southwell (for his first ever podium finish) and Brendon Wedge continuing his form from late last season taking out third place.
A great night was had by all with everyone taking home a straight car and all our rookies showing they are more than capable of coming to grips with steering a wingless around Kwinana.
The Motorplex’s Grand Opening is next Saturday night and the following week the club travels down south to Narrogin Speedway for the first time. Looking forward to see a lot of nominations for this event.
