Fireworks light up the Motorplex as Ashley Pittard takes the win.

FAST SERIES #3 MOTORPLEX 20 DEC 2014

Fast Series #3 moved to a Saturday night with fine weather apart from a howling SW breeze coming off the Indian Ocean. Two new drivers joined us for the first time in #44 Raymond Moylan and #40 Justin Wragg. Justin has ditched his winged racing career and decided to hit the dirt wingless this year. #48 Steve Bergin also joined us for his first meeting in 2014/15.
With 18 cars nominated, 17 hit the clay for hotlaps (qualifying). #W1 Dean Gittos the only exception, meaning he needed to do it the hard way and start ROF in both his heats. Fastest time with 19.597 was #29 Ashley Pittard followed by #96 Fitzi 19.798, #84 Daran Humphrey 19.805 and #24 Daniel Coleman fourth fastest with a 19.809.

Heat 1 on a very dry and dusty track had #78 Matty Fellows leading the pack for most the way until engine problems interfered with what could have been his first win. #W1 Dean Gittos made solid progression through the field in what was a good clean race that saw the chequered flag greeted by#3 Iwanow, #29 Pittard then Gittos.

Heat 2 was again incident free where #24 Daniel Coleman took the win from #A1 Daniel Hartigan and #W1 Dean Gittos, who again came from the rear coming home in third.

Heat 3 saw Brad Taylor bring fireworks spectacular to the Motorplex as his starter motor remained engaged from the beginning of the race creating a great display of sparks from underneath the #17 cool chasis. #42 Mitchell White put in his best race to date, leading out in front until #3 Matt Iwanow turned around in turn 3 while in second right in front of the field. Unfortunately #96 Fitzi had nowhere to go and once again sustained rear-end damage forcing him infield. Fitzi must be winning the unluckiest driver award at present.
Winners for heat 3 were #A1 Hartigan 1st, #42 White 2nd and #29 Pittard 3rd.

Feature Race time and the drivers had a very slick black track to pedal on for 15 laps. #29 Ash Pittard was on pole next to #A1 Hartigan, #24 Coleman, #42 White, #3 Iwanow and #39 Southwell out of P6. As they lined up Iwanow pulled infield with car problems. Pittard got the jump and never looked back. Some drivers hooked up really well and made up constant positions, one being Gittos who started out of P12 and ran on the fence the whole way from start to finish. Pittard and Hartigan pulled away from the field while Matt Vincent ran well to be following in third with Gittos closing fast. Hardcharging through the field for good results was Fitzi who started P14 and Brad "Fireworks" Taylor who started P15 to finish 6th and 8th respectively. Daniel Coleman who spun early also did well to finish in 5th.
Finish order for Fast Series #3 was Pittard, Hartigan, Vincent, Gittos, Coleman, Fitzi, White, Taylor, Humphey, Rice, Fellowes, Melissa Hartigan, Bergin, Southwell and Moylan. DNF: Wragg DNS: Iwanow and Raynor.
Thanks to DTN for the results.

Congratulations to Ashley Pittard on his 2nd Feature win in as many weeks after being successful at Bunbury the week prior and special congratulations to Matt Vincent on his first ever podium finish.

The club was also like to thank Kyle Beard and everyone involved in representing the Wingless Sprints WA at the Bunbury Car Club meeting on 13 December.

Our next meeting is at the Motorplex on 3rd January 2015 for the sprintcar muster.
