Carry Over Registrations -Direct from SCCA & AWSR

To All State Committees & All Drivers,

There has been some confusion and misunderstanding in regard to carry-over car registrations and after discussion with Vivienne Lewis from SCCA, we have decided to clarify these registrations. The normal standard car registration period is from 1st July until the following 30th June. This registration period works for most car registrations however to assist with car owners who register for the winter season, AWSR and SCCA have always agreed to carry-over any registration which has been made between 1st April and 30th June to the following period . For example, any car registration made on the 1st April 2014 will not expire until 30th June 2015. This is especially relevant to cars running the winter season as happens in northern Australia. It can also be a new registration late in the season. Any car owner who wishes to put their car on the track prior to 1st April must register their car knowing that their registration will expire on the following 30th June regardless of whether they are only running 1 or 2 race meetings. This is a national decision agreed upon by AWSR and SCCA and cannot be over-ruled by a state club. The car owner and driver should also be aware that the carry-over is only for car registration and should speak to their own state club re membership fees.
